Whitney A. Ellis
Whitney was born and raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2002 with a bachelor of science in corporate communication. After college she returned to Houston and worked as a paralegal with Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP. Whitney was a member of the oil & gas, energy and securities litigation team, however, her main project included preparing the defense of Farmers Insurance Group for its credit scoring practices in Texas.
Whitney left Fulbright to attend South Texas College of Law and graduated in December 2006, cum laude, ranking fifth in her class. While she attended South Texas she was a member of the Order of the Lytae and was a member of the winning team in the 2005 Gallagher, Lewis & Kim Intramural Mock Trial Tournament. Whitney also twice earned the American Jurisprudence honor in her studies and was on the dean’s list four of her six semesters.
While in law school, Whitney clerked for the Harris County Attorney’s Office and the Harris County Child and Family Protective Services working in the litigation and appellate departments. Whitney was exposed to both criminal and civil cases during the clerkship and enjoyed writing appellate briefs which aimed to keep children out of unfit homes. She began clerking for the Mostyn Law Firm in May 2006 and worked there her last year of law school before returning as an associate after her admittance to the bar in May 2007.
Whitney is currently a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Bar, the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association, Houston Trial Lawyers Association and Young Texans Against Cancer. In her spare time, Whitney enjoys refinishing antique furniture, painting and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
