Kay Morgan
Kay was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and upon graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School attended Baylor University. In 1969, she received her B.A. with a double major in history/political science and a minor in education. Kay went on to attend Southern Methodist University on a teaching fellowship and earned a Masters Degree in American History in 1973 with a specialty in the old west. Her Master’s thesis, based on original documents from the DeGolyer Foundation at SMU, was a study of the Development of the American Character as revealed in the exploration of gold and its processing in Colorado in the 1870's. Moving to Houston, Kay entered the teaching profession at Westchester High School in Spring Branch. In 1977, Kay enrolled at St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, Texas.
She became the first St. Mary’s law student to be awarded a Fifth Circuit Judicial Clerkship for the Honorable John R. Brown. Upon completion of her clerkship, Kay was hired in 1981 as an Associate for Reynolds, Allen & Cook which specialized in Commercial/Business transactions and Litigation and made Partner five years later. Kay concentrated on research, writing, appellate work as well as serving as second chair in numerous trials representing both plaintiffs and defendants. In 1994, Kay turned her focus solely on plaintiff personal injury cases, specializing in Products Liability Litigation. Kay has extensive experience in handling numerous appeals and original proceedings in both State and Federal court. She joined Mostyn Law Firm in September 2009, where she continues her research, writing, motion practice and appellate work as Head of the Writing team.
Kay is licensed in Texas, the United States Court for the Southern District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
