Honorable Trey Martinez Fischer
State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer has been a practicing attorney since 1998 specializing in criminal defense, civil litigation and providing general counsel and crisis management advice to small business and corporate interests.
Representative Martinez Fischer is a graduate of the University Of Texas School Of Law. While in law school, Martinez Fischer clerked on the Texas Supreme Court for Justice Priscilla Owen and in the Western District for United States District Judge Orlando Garcia. In March of 2000, Martinez Fischer was elected to his first term in the Texas House of Representatives.
Representative Martinez Fischer is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice in United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. Martinez Fischer is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, the Austin Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association of Austin.
Representative Martinez Fischer represents the 116th district in San Antonio. He serves on the Civil Practices and Urban Affairs Committees. Martinez Fischer is a Floor Leader for the House Democratic Caucus and is the Chairman of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus, the largest Latino legislative caucus in the United States.
Rep. Martinez Fischer has been recognized nationally for his leadership as a panelist at national conferences for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), the National Education Leadership Initiative (NELI), and the Democratic National Committee's National Hispanic Summit. He serves as an Honorary Board Member of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council.
In 1994, Rep. Martinez Fischer was selected to study as a National Urban Fellow in New York, NY, earning a Master of Public Administration from the Baruch College of Public Affairs. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas San Antonio. Martinez Fischer is married to San Antonio Attorney Elizabeth Provencio.
