$250,000 Donated to the Hughen Center
by Steve and Amber Mostyn and the Mostyn Law Firm

Steve and Amber Mostyn attended a special performance Christmas of Hope concert held in honor of the Hughen Center school children. The performance was held during the Christmas Holidays at the Julie Rogers Theatre in Beaumont, Texas.

One of the great highlights of this extraordinary Christmas event came when Steve and Amber Mostyn met with Monte Osburn, the center’s executive director, to announce Mostyn Law Firm’s $250,000 donation. This generous donation was given to further the mission and goals of the center. It will be formally presented to the Hughen Center’s Board of Directors on January 19, 2009.

The Hughen Center is well known throughout Texas for its tireless work in helping to rebuild the spirit and lives of those physically disabled The mission of the center is to provide aid and comfort to those needing significant assistance as they strive to overcome overwhelming adversity.

“We are thrilled to make this $250,000 donation,” said Steve Mostyn. “My mother was an aid for special education children. My sister, Jackie, is the Special Education Director for the Henderson Independent School District. It’s important to me to do what I can to help those with special needs. Working with Monte and the folks at the Hughen Center over the past year, I have seen what an incredible job they do against tremendous odds. I know this money will be used well to help the Center achieve its mission of helping children and adults with disabilities”.

Steve Mostyn, recently elected President of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, is the founder of the Mostyn Law Firm with offices in Houston, Beaumont and Austin Texas. The firm is recognized throughout the State of Texas for successfully helping thousands of hurricane victims resolve their insurance claim problems.

Entertainment for this memorable event included concert performances featuring BJ Thomas, Zona Jones, and comedian, Dick Hardwick. All proceeds from the concert benefit the center.

“The money will go into operating funds just to keep us going, especially after the hurricane and the slow economy, it’s made things tough in Southeast Texas and for non-profits in particular” said Osburn.

During its 74 year history the Hughen Center has received the aid of legendary icons Bob Hope, and Jimmy Durante, and the generous support of caring members of the community.
