Mostyn Law Firm Keeps Reaching for the Stars by Helping Children at The River Performing and Visual Arts Center
The Mostyn Law Firm donated $10,000 to The River Performing and Visual Arts Center for their 12th Annual Gala, Dancing for Our Stars. The River is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide an accessible, affordable, fine arts education for special children, ages 2-19, who have disabilities, chronic illnesses, or are economically disadvantaged.
This exceptional organization was founded by Cathy Binstock in 1996 when her three-year-old daughter Samantha wanted to take ballet. No program would accept Samantha because cerebral palsy affected her walking, talking, balance and eyesight. Cathy Binstock, a clinical social worker, vowed that no child should be denied the opportunity to participate in the richness of an arts education and The River Performing and Visual Arts Center was born. Cathy’s first class had seven little girls with disabilities. Now in its thirteenth year, The River has served more than 10,000 children with special needs and their siblings.
At the gala, the Mostyn Law Firm had a variety of guests such as Melody Smith SLP, a speech therapist and colleague from the Kids Development Clinic in Houston, Elizabeth Harris, her daughter Taylor and Marilyn Gambrell, along with several children from her program, No More Victims, Inc., another outstanding organization that the Mostyn Law Firm supports.
