Federal judges appoint the Camp Lejeune plaintiff leadership team, and Millberg is accused of robocalls
Updated - July 2023
Reuters reports that four judges from the Eastern District of North Carolina have appointed a seven-member leadership team of attorneys to represent plaintiffs in the pending Camp Lejeune litigation cases. The team includes lead attorney J. Edward Bell III (Bell Legal Group) and co-lead counsel Mona Lisa Wallace (Wallace & Graham). Together, the select attorneys will manage settlement talks, create discovery plans, select bellwether trials, and communicate all developments to the public regarding more than 1,100 ongoing Camp Lejeune cases and counting. Bloomberg reports that a newly-proposed federal class action lawsuit accuses Millberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman LLC of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The suit alleges that Millberg made robocalls, or scam calls, “soliciting participation in Camp Lejeune toxic-water lawsuits.” Millberg has been accused of texting and calling numbers on the national Do Not Call registry, calling without self-identification, and using an artificial or pre-recorded voice—all within direct violation of the TCPA.
Oklahoma will join Kansas in suing utility companies over Winter Storm Uri market manipulation
Updated - July 2023
The Oklahoman reports that the Oklahoma Attorney General (AG), Gentner Drummond, plans to file “the largest lawsuit in state history” against oil, gas, and utility companies that “reaped billions of dollars at the expense of Oklahoma families and businesses” during Winter Storm Uri. Drummond has not specified who the targets of the lawsuit will be but has stated that most are from outside of Oklahoma. Once Drummond files, Oklahoma will join Kansas as the latest state to sue natural gas companies accused of manipulating the market during the devastating 2021 storm.
Cases We Handle
"Great people here and very driven to serve! I had an issue with my case, a legal formality, so I went to Mostyn to see what could be done and they were not only super prompt in their response but were able to resolve my issue the same day! My case was closed days later, as opposed to the months it would’ve been pending had I not made that phone call. They made me feel like my case was their most important and top priority, even though I know it was low level compared to other clients. Couldn’t have asked for a better result or better service. Thank you, Mostyn Law!"
